Medford Calling fosters student musicians as they collaborate on performing cover songs of various artists, decades, or themes, as well as supporting growth for original composition.

An Evening of Music from Two of Pop Music's Most Iconic Artists
In December, composer Mary Bichner visited Medford Calling to work with students on arrangements of Beyonce's "Halo" and the Beatle's "While My Guitar Genty Weeps"

2016 Songwriting Challenge
Students were tasked with writing a song that relays messages of social responsibility, understanding, and citizenship. They had to:
-Write their own lyrics
-Decide on a form for the lyrics, and how that would interact with their chosen instrumentation
-Provide and plan their own instrumentation
- Record their song in entirety
- Have the ability to perform their song live
Students met every other week to review their progress, discuss other artists and/or songs that served as inspiration. They also practiced and recorded their own original songs. The club wrapped up on May 25th, with both Lekha Tevari and Jeremiah Burnett receiving honors for their outstanding compositions which highlighted model citizenship.
